Charles was born in Florence, Alabama. He married Gretchen Lassen (whom he met at Lipscomb) in 1960. Charles and Gretchen have two children and five grand-children. Charles retired from textiles in 2001. Charles and Gretchen have been at PR since 1996. They are involved with the Music Ministry (Charles sings with the Praise Team), Adult Education, LifeGroups, Celebrate Recovery, Mentoring Program, Ladies' Class, and the Men's Ministry. Charles has served as an elder since 1998.
