Joseph was born and raised in Shelby, NC and graduated from Western Carolina in 1978. He met Mary Ann at a bible study at the Shelby Church of Christ in 1976 and they were married in 1979. They have a daughter and son-in-law, Kimberly and Drew; and a son Dylan. Joseph is an artist and he paints and teaches at his studio in Monroe. He has worked for the Union County Public Schools as an elementary art teacher since 1989. Joseph has served as an Elder here since 2005 and has been involved with small groups and the prayer ministry.
